Sunday (7th October) saw the first social and fundraising event for FAABI (Friends of Attend ABI).

Ten intrepid swimmers gathered at the Marshall Street Baths, just off Carnaby Street in central London to take part in the event.

Bridget Foley (Chairman of FAABI) and her daughter Hannah swam 100 lengths between them. Between them the FAABI team swam 327 lengths. All the participants in the morning swam in excess of 3,000 lengths (57 miles) which is the equivalent of Dover to Calais and back again, plus most of the way back to France.

Fundraising was also successful, and we are in the process of getting a Wii Fit kit for the clients to use in their lunch hours.

Byron, who took part said; “I really enjoyed it thank you! Surprised myself as i haven’t has a swim like that for over 15 years, will definitely have to do it again.”

FAABI’s next event is a little more academic, with a Law course being run particularly to benefit those with ABI. If you are interested in participating, please contact Dawn Clarke on 0207 307 2570 or dawn.clarke@attend.org.uk to get involved.
