After a highly successful launch event, the Friends of Attend ABI is now up and running.
Friends of Attend ABI has been created to support people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and to help build a sense community among those directly affected by ABI, as well as their families. FAABI’s Trustees and members plan free workshops, seminars, and social activities open to everyone in the London area who is affected by Acquired Brain Injury.
Upcoming programmes include introductory photography, tours through the Tate Modern, and a crash course on law. There is also a 12-week functional training class to improve fine-motor skills and a job club to join. If you would like more information, or to register you interest, please contact Dawn Clarke on 0207 307 2576.
FAABI is not the sort of club where you are obliged to come to everything; it’s about having fun and meeting people! The large common rooms are open for use at the Attend offices, and everyone is encouraged to plan evening activities for this space. FAABI hopes to increase confidence among those who participate and encourage a sense of engagement with the community.
The second function of FAABI is fundraising. Attend runs an ABI programme developed to support clients who have an acquired brain injury back in to education, volunteering or employment. It has produced many success stories but needs funding to continue to provide these important services. If you have some fundraising ideas, or any time to give to a great cause, please contact Anthony Mercier at Anthony.Mercier@attend.or.uk
